Assignment two brief was to select a select a theme that would create emotion and depth within a series of images that will withhold a strong narrative. Digital narrative involves the knowledge of creating meaning and depth within an image to manufacture a story that a photographer desires to establish to the audiences to create emotion. Memory was the chosen theme to establish the concept of crime. I wanted to establish the notion the concept of memory through my images by capturing depth and meaning using landscape photography as my own way to ignite the memory of the of the crime- The Moors murderers in 1965 which is considers Britain’s most shocking crime. Research of various photographers such as Willie Doherty as my source of inspiration to capture the concept of memory.
“To reflect upon the ethics of memory is, at first sight, a puzzling task. This is so because memory is not in the first instance an action, but a kind of knowledge like perception, imagination and understanding. Memory constitutes a knowledge of past events, or of the pastness of past events.” — Paul Ricoeur
